João Vasconcelos, born within a Douro based family, graduated in Chemical Engineering in Porto. In the beginning of his professional career Chemistry was his life until he took a decision to change his professional path towards his passions, the Douro, travelling and the world of wine.
For the last 17 years he has been involved in promoting and selling Port across many markets in the World, particularly in the UK. João has joined The Fladgate Partnership in 2022 to become Head of Global Travel Retail. In 2023 became responsible for Port sales in the UK market, and since November 2024 has been appointed as Sales Director for the Port, Still and Sparking wine business.
For him, to be based in Porto, a city he loves, and to spend his life travelling the globe and waving Port's flag is a dream come through. Whilst he does that you might also see him running a Marathon somewhere in the world, his other big passion.
